Ulysses for iPhone Tip #7
At some point you’ve finished and polished your piece of text, run it through one or more revision cycles, and you’re confident – the writing part is over. With its flexible export function, Ulysses has your back even after that. As an example, you can export a text as formatted PDF and send it directly via email. Here is how it works.
In the toolbar top right in your editor, there is a square with an upward pointing arrow – this is export. Tap it, and a preview of your output will open as an overlay. Now you can specify the export format – Text, HTML, ePub, PDF, DOCX and Medium are available – and, depending on what you chose, the export settings. For PDF, these are style and paper format. The style essentially defines what your output is going to look like. Select one, for example “Color Code”, which is a brand-new, colorful, voguish Ulysses 2.5 style. Tap “Done” and check your preview to see what is happening to your text. If it is not yet to your liking, you can of course also check out the other available styles.
If you’re happy with what you see, tap the three dots top right. From the available options, select “Send to” and then Mail. This will automatically open a new email with your standard account, with your PDF file attached and your first heading as subject line. There’s not much left to do: Add the recipient’s email address, type a personal note, and hit “Send”.
